Los Angeles, April 3: As the saying goes, old is gold, and this adage shone true during the remarkable three-day auction event titled “Icons: Playboy, Hugh Hefner X Marilyn Monroe,” which ran from March 28th to 30th.
The auction culminated in a grand showcase of legendary pieces associated with Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner, amassing a total of US$4 million in sales and setting a new world record.
The highlight was Monroe’s pink Pucci silk jersey dress, which fetched an astonishing US$325,000, making it the auction’s most coveted item.

The event captivated a live audience at NYA Studios East in Hollywood, drawing over eight thousand bids from around the globe, including the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Monaco, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Germany, and Hong Kong.
Prior to the auction, the collection made its debut in Hong Kong at the Fringe Club, marking Julien’s Auctions’ first exhibition in the city, where it was met with enthusiastic press coverage and high attendance.

Although Hugh Hefner and Marilyn Monroe never crossed paths, their legacies intertwined when Monroe graced the cover of Playboy’s debut issue in 1953.
This pivotal moment not only catapulted them to international fame but also cemented Playboy’s status as a global icon.
The auction brought together these three American legends for the first time, selling over 600 historic items, including clothing, costumes, production papers, furniture, jewelry, art, personal belongings, and more, throughout the event.
