Kuala Lumpur, April 3: The Forest Interactive Foundation (FIF), in collaboration with CIMB Foundation, launched the third iteration of its #seKODlah program, dubbed the #SeKODlah
TecHive, aiming to equip Malaysia’s youth with the skills necessary for thriving in the digital economy. This month-long endeavor featured an intensive technology bootcamp and workshops, offering participants a deep dive into in-demand tech skills such as coding and AI, alongside critical 21st-century competencies.
Industry insights were shared by leading tech firms, including a special visit to Google Malaysia’s office.
Culminating in a Hackathon, the program challenged participants to devise tech solutions for real-world problems, showcasing their skills in a 36-hour project development marathon.
The winning team, Intelli-FinTech, captivated judges with a generative AI-based financial advising app, underscoring the program’s success in fostering innovation and practical tech application among Malaysian youth.
Supported by notable organizations and led by industry experts, the #SeKODlah TecHive offered a comprehensive curriculum covering everything from AI and machine learning to Node.Js and UI/UX design.
The initiative also addressed crucial soft skills and practical knowledge such as investment basics, scam prevention, and startup funding, preparing participants not just technically, but also for the holistic demands of the tech industry.
The hackathon’s unique judging process, inspired by “Shark Tank,” allowed for flexible funding allocations by the judges, further incentivized by additional support from Cradle for promising projects. The event’s structure emphasized creativity, problem-solving, and the potential for immediate impact, aligning with the program’s goal of bridging the gap between technical education and the needs of the tech industry.
As the third successful cohort concludes, the partnership between FIF and CIMB Foundation reiterates their commitment to empowering Malaysia’s youth, equipping them with the tools to contribute significantly to the nation’s tech-driven future.
This initiative not only highlights the importance of tech education in today’s digital age but also the collaborative efforts necessary to nurture the next generation of tech innovators and leaders.
