Sydney, March 27: As Easter approaches, Qantas and Jetstar are preparing for a festive surge, expecting nearly four million passengers to grace the skies on approximately 36,000 flights over the Easter holidays and the subsequent four-week school break.
This season, the skies will be more crowded than last year, with passenger numbers over the Easter weekend projected to rise by nearly 10 percent compared to 2023, reaching over 670,000 travelers.
The peak of the rush is anticipated on Easter Thursday, setting a record with more than 150,000 customers flying with the Group in a single day.
Travelers are choosing destinations far and wide, from international hotspots like Auckland, Singapore, Bali, and Tokyo to domestic favorites such as the Gold Coast, Hobart, and Cairns, making the skies busier than ever.

To ensure a seamless journey for the millions embarking on holiday adventures, Qantas and Jetstar have introduced several customer experience enhancements.
The airlines have up to 15 aircraft on standby to mitigate any travel disruptions, supported by an increase in reserve staff and additional personnel at the busiest airports.
Collaborating closely with industry partners, they’ve ensured extra ground handlers and airport security screeners are ready to assist. Qantas Engineering has also ramped up its efforts with dedicated maintenance teams poised to keep the fleet in top condition, underscoring the Group’s commitment to operational excellence and superior customer service.
The holiday spirit will be in full swing from March 29 to April 1, with Qantas and Jetstar weaving Easter magic into the travel experience.
At Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane Domestic Airports, Qantas’s mascot, Matilda, alongside her team, will spread “Hoppy Easter” cheer, handing out chocolates to travelers. These airports will also feature Easter-themed photo booths for memorable snapshots.
In the lounges, guests can indulge in Hot Cross Buns for breakfast, savor mini chocolate eggs, and keep the little ones entertained with exclusive Easter-themed activity packs.
The festive mood continues onboard with Qantas serving an assortment of Easter treats, including KOKO Black Milk Chocolate Eggs, Hazelnut Chocolate Bunnies, and Do Good Labs Chocolate Koalas.
Jetstar joins in the fun, offering bunny ear headbands and Easter coloring packs, ensuring even the youngest travelers have a delightful journey.
This Easter, Qantas and Jetstar are set to make holiday travel not just a journey, but a celebration, promising a memorable experience for passengers as they take to the sky.
