Kuala Lumpur, March 27: Malaysia’s RV tourism scene is gearing up for a significant transformation, particularly in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER), with the introduction of Knaus Tabbert’s latest recreational vehicle (RV) models by Asia RV Sdn. Bhd., the brand’s exclusive importer for Malaysia and the RCEP region, and Mayflower Car Rental as the strategic rental partner.
This initiative was highlighted at the recent MATTA fair, underscoring the growing interest in RV travel across the country.
At the heart of this development is the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), which has been actively promoting the RV industry as part of its strategy to boost tourism and investment in the region.

soft launch of two RV models from Knaus Tabbert AG’s lineup in the MATTA Fair.
The soft launch of Knaus SÜDWIND Caravan and Knaus Boxdrive 600XL models marks a key milestone in this journey, signaling a promising future for RV enthusiasts looking to explore Malaysia’s scenic beauty.
The event not only showcased the cutting-edge RV models but also celebrated the partnership between Knaus Tabbert AG, Asia RV, and Mayflower Group, aiming to elevate travel experiences for Malaysian consumers.
This collaboration paves the way for luxury and comfort in travel, offering an unparalleled opportunity to discover Malaysia’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.
Highlighting ECERDC’s ongoing efforts to position ECER as Asia’s RV hub, Datuk Baidzawi Che Mat, CEO of ECERDC, mentioned the council’s engagement since 2021 with global RV industry players and the strategic alliances formed, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the German Caravaning Verband e.V. (CIVD) and a Memorandum of Collaboration with Knaus Campingparks.
These partnerships aim to develop RV parks in the region, with Pantai Hiburan Rompin in Pahang identified as the site for the first RV park in ECER.
With its rich natural and cultural assets, the ECER region is poised to become a prime destination for RV tourism, offering a new avenue for adventure seekers and nature lovers to experience Malaysia’s unique offerings on wheels.
