Sydney, March 14: Australia Post is ramping up its operations in Queensland with a $50 million investment to construct a cutting-edge Parcel Facility at the Brisbane Airport Industrial Park, slated for opening in early 2026.
This StarTrack Premium facility, set to be the state’s second-largest sorting center, is a response to the anticipated population surge in South East Queensland, projected to exceed 6 million by 2032, and the corresponding e-commerce growth.
Paul Graham, Australia Post Group CEO and Managing Director, emphasized the project’s role in addressing the increasing e-commerce demands in Queensland, noting the significant statistic that 82 per cent of Queenslanders had made online purchases in the previous year.
The facility is designed to process up to 176,000 parcels daily, featuring advanced sorting technology that enhances safety by minimizing manual handling and incorporating integrated X-ray screening.
Strategically positioned next to Brisbane Airport, the Brisbane North Parcel Facility aims to streamline delivery operations, reducing transit times for the delivery team and improving service efficiency across South East Queensland.
Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland, and Brisbane Airport CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaff, both highlighted the project’s importance for Australia Post’s adaptability to changing market demands and its contribution to regional connectivity and growth.
The 33,600sqm facility will also set environmental benchmarks as a 5-Star Green Star accredited project and will function as an International Gateway Operation in collaboration with the Australian Border Force and the Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry, underscoring Australia Post’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in its future endeavors.
