It’s been a significant two months of progress and challenge for Lazy Bum Skincare.
The brand has not only refreshed its website, inviting customers to explore its offerings at lazybumskincare.com, but also bolstered its marketing efforts by bringing Candice Gersun on board as a public relations consultant.
Gersun, known for her pitches to DailyStraits.com, now plays a pivotal role in amplifying the brand’s voice.

However, the journey to expand into new markets, specifically the UAE, has been less than smooth. Despite the enthusiasm for taking Lazy Bum Skincare international, logistical hurdles have put a dent in these plans, with shipping complications emerging as the central challenge.
The ordeal began with a $390 shipping fee paid to Australia Post, only for the shipment to be returned from Dubai due to miscommunication. The frustration grew when part of the shipment went missing for months within the Australian logistics system, nearly prompting a formal complaint before the goods were finally located and returned.

Optimistic, the next attempt was made with DHL, directly from their Merrylands, Sydney location.
This time, a single shipment of hair oil was sent to test the waters.
Despite initial hesitations and a thorough check to ensure the product did not contain alcohol, the package was successfully dispatched to Dubai.
Encouraged by this success, a business account with DHL was set up for future shipments, but this too stumbled due to vague and unsatisfying explanations, incurring a $510 expense.
The total cost of these attempts amounted to $900, a substantial outlay for a small business striving to make its mark overseas.
The recurring issues have led to a sense of a sabotaged endeavor or a fundamentally flawed logistics system between Australia and the UAE.
This sentiment is sharpened by the contrast with governmental efforts to foster business between the two nations, which seem undercut by the practical difficulties of sending even simple parcels for trade.
This tale of international expansion underscores the resilience needed to navigate the complexities of global business.
For small brands like Lazy Bum Skincare, each setback is a lesson in perseverance, underscoring the importance of adaptability and determination in the face of logistical challenges.
Until our next update, stay well!
