Shah Alam, Feb 29: Galven Green showcased his exceptional golfing skills with a seven-shot victory at the Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy, held at Saujana Golf & Country Club.
Green finished the tournament at 11-under 205, after a final round of four-under 68, marking a significant win in his career following his first professional victory at the Toyota Tour’s Alphard Cup last October.
Despite early setbacks with bogeys on the third and fifth holes, Green recovered brilliantly, securing a series of birdies that solidified his lead against competitors Danny Chia and Syahiran Syakir.
His performance echoed confidence and a well-executed game plan, aiming for a future spot on the Asian Tour.
The men’s competition saw a shift after Green’s birdie run, with Danny Chia, the defending champion, initially posing a threat but ultimately finishing joint third with Amir Nazrin, who made a remarkable leap from eighth place.
Syahiran Syakir secured the second position, despite a challenging round.
In the women’s championship, Geraldine Wong triumphed for the second time, finishing at 221, three strokes ahead of Jocelyn Chee, with Aretha Pan close behind.
The amateur division titles were claimed by Rhaasrikanesh for the men and H.Y. Bang for the women, showcasing emerging talents in the sport.
The Toyota Tour will pause for Ramadhan and resume with the Corolla Cross Cup at Glenmarie GCC in late April, continuing the season’s competition.
