Sydney, Jan 9: In a move to enhance the handheld gaming PC experience, Western Digital’s WD_BLACK™ has unveiled its latest innovation, the WD_BLACK™ SN770M NVMe™ SSD, in Sydney, today.
This premium, high-performance M.2 2230 solution is specifically designed for the modern handheld PC gamer and aims to enrich the WD_BLACK legacy of performance storage tailored for competitive gaming.
As per a Gartner report, the handheld gaming console market is anticipated to hit 14.8 million units by 2027. In response to the growing demand for mobile gaming and the release of more AAA titles, Western Digital is focusing on developing storage solutions that cater to the needs of mobile gamers. The WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD, with up to 2TB of capacity, is engineered to support the demanding performance requirements of handheld gaming PCs.
Eric Spanneut, Vice President of Client SSDs at Western Digital, highlighted the increasing game sizes and the need for expansive storage.
The WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD not only offers up to 2TB of storage but is also fine-tuned for peak gaming performance.
This SSD in the M.2 2230 form-factor provides a significant upgrade in internal storage for handheld gaming PCs.
It features Western Digital TLC 3D NAND and offers capacities up to 2TB. The drive is equipped with cutting-edge gaming features like PCIe® Gen 4.03, nCache™ 4.0 technology, and Microsoft’s DirectStorage support, ensuring an immersive gaming experience with speeds up to 5,150 MB/s (1TB and 2TB models) for rapid game installations and loading.
Shawn Yen, Vice President of Gaming at ASUS, and Renato Fragale, Senior Director of Product Management at AMD, both emphasized the significant impact of the WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD in enhancing the handheld gaming ecosystem.
They noted its compatibility with devices like the ASUS™ ROG Ally™ and its contribution to the advancement of handheld gaming with AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Series processors.
Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD comes with Western Digital’s 5-year limited warranty.
The products are priced at $239.00 MSRP (1TB) and $439.00 (2TB) and are currently available at JB Hi-Fi in Australia.
