Sydney, Dec 6: WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called “View Once,” providing users with enhanced privacy when sharing photos, videos, and voice messages.
When sending View Once media and voice messages, users need to select the “View Once” option each time.
Once sent, the content cannot be viewed again by the sender.
Recipients can confirm if a message has been opened only if they have read receipts enabled.
Additionally, media sent using this feature won’t be saved to the recipient’s Photos or Gallery, and screenshots are disabled.
It’s crucial to exercise caution and share views once media only with trusted contacts.
Some important points to remember include the temporary storage of media on WhatsApp’s servers, the option to report view once media for review, and the ability of Android users to record view once voice messages using the native screen recorder.
When receiving view once media and voice messages, recipients must open the content within 14 days, or it expires from the chat.
Forwarding, saving, starring, or sharing view once media is disabled.
Restoration of view once media from backups is possible if unopened at the time of backup, and screenshots of received view once media are not allowed.
WhatsApp’s View Once feature adds a significant layer of privacy, allowing for more secure and temporary sharing of media content.
Users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the feature’s nuances to make the most of this added privacy measure.
