Sydney, December 7: In a historic revelation, Michael Jackson’s inaugural studio recording, “Big Boy (One-Derful Version),” concealed for over half a century, is now digitally accessible worldwide.
Released today, the exclusive “digital vinyl” via another block in collaboration with Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, allocates a portion of proceeds to the Legacy Foundation.
The remarkable recording traces back to July 13, 1967, when eight-year-old Michael Jackson and his brothers entered Chicago’s One-Derful for their first-ever studio session.
Capturing Michael’s initial encounter with a studio microphone, the recording stands as the earliest evidence of The Jackson 5’s development under One-Derful.
Kept secret until now, Recordpool, its owner, partnered with anotherblock, a blockchain-based music and royalty marketplace, for its global release.

This digital release, available in unlimited quantity, offers access to “Big Boy (One-Derful Version)” through another block’s player, accompanied by images of the master tape and previously unheard song stems.
For collectors, a limited edition includes additional songs, providing a rare glimpse into the early days of The Jackson 5.
Katherine Jackson expressed her astonishment at the lasting impact of Michael’s voice and the family’s musical heritage, emphasizing the initiative’s contribution to the Gary, Indiana community.
The discovery of the studio master in 2009 by journalist Jake Austen added a new dimension to The Jackson 5’s history.
The original recording captures the raw passion of eight-year-old Michael, preceding the polished sound of their later Motown creations. A separate session led to the release of a re-recorded version of “Big Boy” as The Jackson 5’s first single by Steeltown Records in January 1968.
Michel D Traore, co-founder and CEO of Anotherblock, expressed pride in bringing this significant piece of music history to the world, emphasizing how digital assets can enhance the value of art.
