Sydney, Dec 7: Despite economic challenges, 65 per cent of Australians plan to fly this summer, but a survey reveals that 63 per cent are irked by the flight’s duration, and a staggering 79 per cent dislike traditional inflight entertainment.
A significant 50 per cent find it so dull that they eagerly switch it off.
Notably, 61 per cent of Aussies desire engaging storytelling during flights, with celebrity memoirs, especially in audiobook format, topping the list for 31 per cent of respondents. Concerns include flight duration (63 per cent) and running out of activities (30 per cent).
The dislike for traditional inflight entertainment is attributed to boredom, the need for an upgrade (24 per cent), disruptions by air host updates (20 per cent), and uninteresting content (18 per cent).
Over half (52 per cent) watch it out of boredom, while 37 per cent can’t afford a seat upgrade amid the cost-of-living crisis.
In response, Audible introduces “Fly Celeb Class,” an alternative to inflight entertainment without a costly seat upgrade.
This feature recommends celebrity memoir audiobooks for purchase, tailored to popular flight routes worldwide.
Celebrities like Matthew McConaughey and Sam Neill are among the favourites, offering a unique and entertaining inflight experience.
Ben Rolleston, Audible Australia Country Manager, notes a rising demand for audiobooks during flights, with 78 per cent of travellers favouring them over other times.
To illustrate, comedian Josh Hawkins provided a preview of Audible’s Fly Celeb Class, highlighting memorable scenes from top celebrity memoirs.
“Fly Celeb Class is the ultimate upgrade for less. It even makes sitting in the dreaded middle seat bearable. It’s the perfect inflight entertainment hack,” says comedian Josh Hawkins.
Anyone can Fly Celeb Class by purchasing and downloading a matching celebrity memoir pre-flight, offering a novel inflight experience.
