Rock ‘n’ Roll Auction

Beverly Hills, Nov 1: Julien’s Auctions, renowned as the leading rock ‘n’ roll auction house, is marking its 20th anniversary with a monumental event, “Played, Worn, & Torn Rock ‘N’ Roll Iconic Guitars and Memorabilia.” This sale presents a collection of over 1,000 historical items steeped in rock & roll history, offering aficionados the chance to own relics from legendary music icons.
The impressive roster of artists whose memorabilia is featured includes the likes of Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, Elvis Presley, Prince, Lady Gaga, The Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Bee Gees’ Maurice Gibb, Elton John, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Albert King, Dolly Parton, U2, Sinead O’Connor, Eddie Van Halen, Frank Zappa, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, Slash from Guns N’ Roses, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, and The Who, among others.

Some of the standout items include Michael Jackson’s stage-worn “Dangerous World Tour” jacket and his 2009 American Music Award.
There’s also John Lennon’s Elton John Christmas-gifted Dakota Wurlitzer Juke Box and Elvis Presley’s 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V, personally owned and driven by the King of Rock and Roll, complete with historical photos.
This auction is a treasure trove for music enthusiasts, featuring original memorabilia like the standee from Elvis Presley’s first feature film, “Love Me Tender,” and Paul McCartney’s 1972 Wings Tour Bristol Double-Decker Bus, which carries an iconic legacy of the Beatles’ journey in the ’70s.
The highlight of the event is the sale of two legendary guitars: Eric Clapton’s stage-played 1964 “Fool” Gibson SG electric guitar and Kurt Cobain’s stage-played Fender MG-69 Mustang electric guitar, known as “Skystang I.”
Both instruments are estimated to fetch between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000, making them among the most important guitars ever to be auctioned.
Maurice Gibb’s stage and studio-played Rickenbacker 4001 Mapleglo electric bass guitar, a vital part of the Bee Gees’ historic “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack album, is also on offer. Alongside this, there’s a band-signed Keith Richards-owned 1999 Fender Telecaster Thinline ’69 reissue electric guitar.
Prince’s stage-worn “When Doves Cry” suit from his “Musicology Tour” and his handwritten lyrics manuscript for “The Rainbow Children” can also be obtained, each carrying a significant part of the late artist’s legacy.
Lady Gaga’s attire, including her Adriana Sahar dress and gloves worn while receiving an RIAA “PLATINUM” award for “A Star Is Born,” as well as her Sutton bomber jacket, provides a taste of contemporary music history.
The items will be available for public viewing at Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus in London from Oct 17 to 22 and at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York, from Nov 6 to 11.
The grand finale will be held at Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville from Nov 13 to 17.
The live auction will take place on November 16 and 17, featuring an extensive range of iconic rock memorabilia up for grabs.
Music enthusiasts and collectors have the opportunity to witness history firsthand as they partake in this extraordinary event celebrating Julien’s Auctions’ two decades at the forefront of rock ‘n’ roll history.
