The gripping new season of SBS’s flagship documentary series follows ordinary Australians as they unearth astonishing truths about their family’s history and confront the extraordinary secrets that have profoundly influenced their lives.
This season promises an array of shocking revelations, ranging from Nazi affiliations, baby swaps, bigamy, criminal activities, lost inheritances, secret adoptions, heartwarming family reunions, to life-altering epiphanies.

Over the course of four weeks, the series takes viewers on a global journey, spanning Austria, Mexico, Greece, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and The Netherlands.
Season Four kicks off with an explosive premiere that breaks from the series’ usual format by focusing on one rather than two intertwining stories. This deviation is due to the epic nature of the revelations to be unveiled.

The series explores universal themes such as family and identity, allowing viewers to delve into surprising and sometimes shocking stories from personal history while solving mysteries that have affected some families for years.
The absorbing season four premiere follows siblings Jacquie Blatchford and Michael Damnjanovic as they embark on a journey to France, Italy, and the UK in search of answers about their French-born mother’s journey to Australia after WWII.
Along the way, they uncover evidence of their mother’s dark past, including membership in a far-right political party, Nazi connections, hidden marriages, and the revelation that they are heirs to a substantial inheritance.
The season continues to deliver shocking revelations, as two Melbourne women investigate baby swaps and baby theft. Dr. Sofia Rios Miranda explores a family rumor that her great-grandparents stole a British baby and changed his identity to ensure he stayed with them.
Meanwhile, a DNA test turns adoptee Dr. Penny Mackieson’s life upside down when she discovers her Greek heritage and that she spent twenty years reunited with the wrong birth mother.
In later episodes, proud Koori woman Paula Morrison, raised as an orphan, discovers her Austrian-born father is still alive and unravels her family’s Nazi allegiances.
Retiree Rod Cordery and sister Sandra Rowlands journey to the UK to discover their biological father’s identity and meet half-sisters they never knew existed. Leading historian Professor Grace Karskens travels to the Netherlands and Germany to uncover the truth about a missing uncle, and Ming Balintong fulfills his greatest wish by finally learning the identity of his biological father.
