Putrajaya, Aug 10: In a remarkable display of skill and tenacity, Gavin Green, Malaysia’s leading professional golfer, secured a commanding victory at the Corolla Cross Cup, held at the esteemed Palm Garden Golf Club.
This triumph marked Green’s first home-soil win since the Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy in February last year, showcasing his unwavering prowess on the course.Amidst fierce competition, Green delivered a stellar performance, carding a magnificent five-under 67, culminating in an impressive three-day aggregate of 16-under 200.
This feat allowed him to effortlessly surge past the challenges posed by his opponents, including co-leader Paul San, who had shared the limelight with Green after two rounds.
Paul’s even-par 72 was no match for Green’s exceptional form.Green’s masterful play was characterized by a dynamic display of skill, evident through six birdies on holes 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, and 14.
While a lone bogey on the par 3 seventh briefly interrupted his impeccable scorecard, Green’s unwavering focus and determination propelled him to maintain his lead throughout the tournament.
