While 10,000 steps are often recommended, Pedestrian Council CEO Harold Scruby notes this goal can discourage those struggling with time constraints. Scruby emphasizes that even fewer steps can make a significant difference in health. Hayley Nicholson, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, advocates short walks to break prolonged sitting, supporting long-term health.
Walking is endorsed for Type 2 diabetes management, improving glucose control and reducing complications. It also helps with conditions like diabetic neuropathy. With numerous Australians impacted by diabetes, WTWD encourages incorporating walking into work routines for a healthier workplace.
