With less than a month remaining, rowers and spectators from around the world are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Henley Royal Regatta, which is set to be one of the largest events in its 184-year history. The impressive lineup of participants from both domestic and international backgrounds has resulted in tickets for the Regatta Enclosure on Semi-Finals Day, taking place on July 1st, already being sold out.
Sir Steve Redgrave, Chairman of the Committee of Management, expressed the excitement of the Stewards of Henley Royal Regatta, stating, “We are looking forward to an exciting 2023 Regatta and witnessing the progress of our competitors. The demand from our spectators further reinforces our anticipation.”
Henley Royal Regatta offers a unique opportunity to witness the progression from junior to elite racing on a single course.
The addition of three women’s events in 2021, including Prince Philip (Junior Women’s Eights), the Island (Student Women’s Eights), and the Wargrave (Club Women’s Eights), has successfully established pathways for aspiring athletes.
Redgrave highlighted the success of these events, stating, “We created these events with the aim of paving the way to the elite squad, and we have been delighted to see them exceed our expectations. We eagerly await their continued evolution this year.”
Crew entries for the regatta will close on Monday, June 12th at 2 pm.
The Qualifying Races are scheduled to take place on Friday, June 23rd, in the afternoon and evening, on the renowned Regatta Course in Henley-on-Thames.
The highly anticipated Draw will follow on Saturday, June 24th, at 12 pm, taking place in Henley Town Hall.
Following its successful debut last year, the post-regatta river clean-up will make a grand return, promising an even bigger and better endeavor.
Henley Royal Regatta, in collaboration with local environment campaigner Lynne Lambourne and the wider community, will lead the post-event river clean-up on Monday, July 3rd.
This initiative underscores the regatta’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
As the countdown to the 2023 Henley Royal Regatta begins, anticipation and enthusiasm continue to build among rowers and spectators alike.
This iconic event promises thrilling races, extraordinary talent, and a celebration of the sport’s rich traditions against the picturesque backdrop of the River Thames.
