Kuala Lumpur, May 17: In commemoration of International AIDS Memorial Day 2023 (IAMD), DOC2US and the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) organized an event to officially introduce DOC2US’ Virtual HIV Clinic.
The initiative aims to provide accessible healthcare to People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and key populations through telemedicine and technology.
The virtual clinic offers free medical consultations, teleconsultations with licensed doctors, self-test kits, lab test referrals, and e-prescriptions for HIV and STD-related matters.
The collaboration between DOC2US and MAC provides an additional option for individuals who are not currently engaged in care to seek treatment and support in a safe and non-discriminatory environment. MAC President Associate Professor Dr Raja Iskandar Shah Raja Azwa emphasized the importance of telemedicine and technology in expanding access to care for people at risk of HIV.
He expressed support for future collaborations with DOC2US and the utilization of technology in healthcare.
International AIDS Memorial Day is a global grassroots campaign for HIV awareness, and this year’s theme, “Spread Love and Solidarity to Build Stronger Communities,” aims to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with HIV due to ongoing discrimination.
The virtual event featured an online panel session titled “Leave No One Behind,” addressing barriers and perspectives on HIV management and prevention in Malaysia.
Esteemed medical professionals, doctors, and PLHIV guests shared their stories and experiences during the session.
DOC2US CEO and Co-Founder Dr Raymond Choy emphasized the company’s commitment to provide a virtual outlet for PLHIV and key populations to seek treatment and care with confidence.
The event also showcased MAC’s crowd-sourced video production that promotes solidarity and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
DOC2US’ Virtual HIV Clinic can be accessed through the DOC2US telehealth app or their website. The clinic operates every Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The launch of the clinic reflects DOC2US’ mission to prioritize treatment for PLHIV and foster public-private partnerships to achieve the national goal of 95-95-95—ensuring 95 per cent of those living with HIV know their status, 95 per cent of those who know their status are on treatment, and 95 per cent of those on treatment are virally suppressed.
