Kuala Lumpur, Dec 17: There will be no visitors allowed to see former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad during his stay at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in the city centre.
“Yang Amat BerbahagiaTun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is currently undergoing several investigations which shall be completed in the next few days,” the statement said.
“He shall remain in IJN till then.
“Due to the present SOP (standard operating procedure), no visitors are allowed to visit Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun.”
Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN for a full medical check-up and further observation at 7pm (Malaysian time) on Thursday.
“He shall be undergoing a full medical check-up and further observation,” an earlier statement from the hospital said.
“Tun is expected to be in IJN for the next few days.”
The Langkawi member of parliament, who turned 96 in July, had undergone two heart bypass surgeries in 1989 and 2007 and was last hospitalised in February 2018.
