Fintel’s Short Interest Data For The Week Of Dec 12

New York, Dec 13:  Fintel.io, a provider of advanced research tools for data-driven investors, has developed a mathematical model that provides investors and traders with data that identifies the most-shorted stocks by ranking companies on a number of factors such as relative short interest, borrow fee rates, trading volume, and others. 
The Australian Short Interest Leaderboard provides a leaderboard ranking of companies with the highest short interest so traders can easily identify companies with the highest negative sentiment by institutional investors. The leaderboard is also useful for identifying potential short squeeze opportunities.

Below are the list of most-shorted Australian companies as of December 12, 2021 at 8:00pm ET:

Short Squeeze Scores scoring model ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 being most likely, relative to its peers.
The Australian Short Squeeze Leaderboard also compiles data like Short Interest % Float, Change in Volume, Change in Price, and Borrow Fee Rate into an easy-to-use leaderboard for investors to reference when making decisions. 

Ni Hsin Launches BB2GO EV Bikes For F&B Business

Kuala Lumpur,  Dec 13: NI HSIN Group Bhd’s subsidiary BlackBixon2Go Sdn Bhd has launched the BB2GO EV Coffee Bike for use in the sale of BlackBixon coffee.
These electric bikes are powered by a battery system specially configured to also provide the power for the coffee-making machine and is an extension of Ni Hsin’s cafe at anywhere concept under its food and beverage business.
The bikes are equipped with GPS for easy tracking of orders and locations of BB2GO EV Coffee Bikes by coffee lovers using the BB2GO app.
BlackBixon2Go also signed an MoU with Acasia Communications Sdn Bhd to digitalise the new business concept through its connectivity and cloud services, supporting the BB2GO app.
Acasia, an affiliate of Telekom Malaysia Group, is a collaboration among seven leading telecommunications providers offering a comprehensive suite of connectivity services and digital infrastructure in the ASEAN region.

Micron Releases 2021 Annual Report 

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 13: Micron Technology, Inc. has released its fourth annual diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) report, highlighting significant accomplishments and efforts across six DEI commitments that Micron introduced in last year’s report.
The commitments hold the company accountable for diversifying Micron’s workforce, driving equitable pay and benefits, strengthening the culture of inclusion and creating an equal voice for all.
Additionally, the company publicly disclosed its consolidated Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO-1) data for the first time.
“We’re proud to have achieved nearly every goal we set and to have made significant progress across all our DEI commitments,” Micron Chief People Officer April Arnzen said.
“This work is critically important to our company and stems from our firm belief that DEI spurs innovation, advances our corporate mission, drives market competitiveness and is the right thing to do for all.”

Monty Mobile In Partnership With Unico 

Melbourne, Dec 14: Monty Mobile has signed a reseller agreement with Unico to sell and implement the uPair Entitlement Server into the  Middle East and African markets.
Monty Mobile will be supported by Unico in deploying uPair, an end-to-end world  class Entitlement Server for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) which aims to drive down costs and address an  underserved market in the region.
uPair enables fast end-user activation of primary and secondary eSIM services without the need for on-premises  deployment.
It allows users to connect multiple SIM and eSIM enabled devices to one number and service – including  Google, Samsung, and Apple products.
uPair leverages RESTful and TMF interfaces along with a range of additional  functions providing support for the comprehensive lifecycle management of connected mobile and wearable devices.
Monty Mobile and Unico will support MNOs with device manufacturer certifications and training to ensure world class  customer service.
This alliance will drive the creation of advanced solutions in the smart connectivity space and  establish a complete world class eSIM solution within ME & Africa.  

Cloud Comrade Gets Another Recognition

Singapore, Dec 14: Cloud Comrade has been awarded the SAP Recognized Expertise designation in SAP HANA in Singapore.

Top Glove Recognised As Leading Employer 

Shah Alam, Dec 14: Top Glove, the world’s largest manufacturer of gloves, has once again been acknowledged as Malaysia’s leading employer among local graduates by taking home top honours in three leading graduates’ choice awards this year 2021.
For the GRADUAN Brand Awards 2021 that took place on Dec 10, the glove maker was named Malaysia’s Most Preferred Employer under the Manufacturing category.
It also attained an overall ranking of Top four amongst Malaysia’s Most Preferred Employers of the Year, marking an improvement from its sixth place ranking in 2019.
At Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers Awards 2021 (M100), held on Nov 17, Top Glove emerged as the champion in the Engineering and Heavy Industry category for the fifth year running.
The M100 ranking is based on student and fresh graduate votes from universities across Malaysia gathered in the annual M100 survey, the largest and longest running study on graduate recruitment trends in Malaysia.

Top Glove Named Best Company

Shah Alam, Dec 14: Top Glove has clinched top honours for Best Company for IR, Best Chief Financial Officer, and Best Quality of Annual Reports in the large market cap sub category at the 11th annual MIRA Investor Relations Awards 2021.
Announced today, the Awards, themed ‘Reinvigorating Investor Relations in the New Normal’, is organised by Malaysian Investor Relations Association, or MIRA for short, which is the sole non profit organisation for investor relations established under Bursa Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 14: It’s the season of giving once again and this year, the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF Malaysia) received a generous donation from Sun Life Malaysia, a leading life insurance and family Takaful company.
Some 200 Diabetes Awareness Care Packs consisting of nutritional snacks − oat, granola, chia seeds and nuts and also a fun comic book on diabetes prevention were donated to NKF Malaysia’s patients.
Held in conjunction with World Diabetes Day, this donation is aimed at raising awareness on diabetes prevention and care and helping people who are affected with diabetes avoid further complications through practicing an active and healthier lifestyle.
Sun Life Malaysia has been strongly committed to fight diabetes through various partnerships with community groups and organisations such as NKF Malaysia.

Malaysian Obstacle Warriors Slays Course

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 14: Malaysians from across the nation put their strength to test to get one step closer to becoming a Malaysian obstacle warrior champion at the Obstacle Warrior 2021 National Championships.
The first round of the Obstacle Warrior National League and national championships’ qualifiers saw a performance of human strength and agility as contestants navigated their way through larger-than-life obstacles which proved very challenging.
With only a short window for each participant to complete the course, this clearly was not a brain versus brawn situation as contestants had to use both mental and physical abilities to finish in the shortest possible time. 
Designed and developed in accordance with the international standard obstacle course, Escape Petaling Jaya showcased 18 different obstacles with various difficulty levels.
The recent event launch press conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, who witnessed the practice round of the Obstacle Warrior 2021 National Championships Malaysia.

Malaysian Youths Hopeful For The Future

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 15: Although on the fence about the COVID-19  pandemic’s management in the country, Malaysian youths remain largely optimistic  about the future.
This is also despite persistent economic concerns borne from the  current crisis, as many appreciate basic state provisions such as healthcare and  education, as their future life plans remain undeterred – based on highlights from the  ASEAN Youth Survey 2021 edition by Redhill.
Now in its third year, Redhill’s ASEAN Youth Survey analyses the roles of Southeast  Asia’s youths as key drivers of economic, cultural, and socio-political change.
The  study attempts to take a snapshot view of their aspirations and concerns on  governance, the economy, education, healthcare, life choices and online activity – through the eyes of nearly 3,000 people aged 18-35 across seven ASEAN nations.

RACV Safety Tips For The Holidays

“Before you get in your car, make sure you do a safety check of your vehicle. Check your fluid levels under your bonnet, including oil, coolant and even the windscreen washer level. Be sure to check your tyre pressure as well and that your roadside assistance is up to date.
“When planning your journey, especially if you’re going regional, plan your drive along safer main roads. Schedule stops on these longer trips as this not only gives you a break from driving it also means you are not rushing.

Almost 10,000 Coway Run 2021 tickets were snapped up within 24 hours of its launch and marked a triumphant moment in Coway Run’s history!
This achievement further solidified the importance of Coway Run to Malaysians, who look forward to participating in this event annually.
Be it physically or virtually, Coway Run has found a place in many runners’ hearts.

New Report Highlights The Role Of Fintech

Singapore, Dec 16: Fast-paced fintech innovation in Asia Pacific is having a measurable, positive impact on access to financial services in the region, according to a new report from findexable, powered by Mambu, titled ‘Asia Pacific Fintech Rankings: Bridging Divides’.
The report, which provides an APAC-centric deep-dive into the Global Fintech Rankings released mid-2021, highlights the vital role fintech innovation has in closing the gaps between the ‘banked’, ‘underserved’ and ‘unbanked’, particularly in countries which may have low levels of formal financial inclusion, but high levels of smartphone ownership and internet penetration.
The report, which includes in-depth looks at Vietnam and Indonesia, and commentary from a number of Asia Pacific fintech leaders, identifies the countries and cities leading the fintech charge in the region, including Jakarta, which jumped 27 places in the city rankings this year, and New Zealand, which rose 15 places in the country rankings to sit inside the top 10 for the first time. 
Also unpacked in the report are some of the new financial technologies – particularly in the payments space – that are changing the way that people across the Asia Pacific region manage their money, where cash has been relegated from its long-held position of king.

Igloo Extends Footprint In Malaysia With Pine Labs

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 16: Regional insurtech firm Igloo has announced a new partnership with digital payments service provider, Pine Labs, marking the extension of its regional footprint in Malaysia.
Pine Labs is currently used by over 246,000 merchants in 3700 cities and towns across India and Malaysia.
Through the partnership, Pine Labs will offer shoppers hassle-free and easy mobile phone protection solutions under the IglooCare Program.
Mobile Phone 360 and Phone Screen Protection are currently available on Pine Labs’ platform.
The protection covers both repair and replacement of the gadget by up to 100 per cent of the gadget retail price, offered through Igloo’s dedicated nationwide IglooCare repair and service network in Malaysia.

Uniphore Collaborates With Cisco For Better CX

Singapore’s 1982 Ventures Raises US$12.5M

Singapore, Dec 16: 1982 Ventures, a leading early-stage venture capital firm in Southeast Asia, has announced the initial close of its first seed stage venture fund with US$12.5 million in committed capital.
The fund is targeting to raise a total corpus of US$15 million.
Established in early 2020, 1982 Ventures is a Southeast Asia focused venture capital fund that invests in seed stage fintech startups in Southeast Asia.
The fund was recently identified as the most active Southeast Asia based fintech investor of 2021 (UOB).
The firm’s portfolio has made a return of over 3x, with early and first round investments in Indonesian open banking player Brick, Vietnamese retail investment platform Infina (YC S21), home financing proptech Homebase (YC W21), Singaporean automated financial data platform Bluesheets and Southeast Asia’s first earned wage access platform Wagely.

Hong Kong Export Growth Set To Slow

Hong Kong, Dec 16: The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) forecasts that Hong Kong exports will grow by eight per cent in value in 2022, down from the 25 per cent expansion experienced in 2021.
An uneven recovery, lingering threats from the COVID-19 pandemic, global supply chain disruptions and logistics bottlenecks, as well as rising concerns over inflation, are expected to restrain growth, HKTDC Director of Research Nicholas Kwan said.
In the most recent HKTDC Export Index survey, more local exporters (87 per cent, up 20.4 percentage points from the previous quarter) said the pandemic had negatively affected their business.
Soaring transport costs (60.2 per cent), disruptions to logistics and distribution (53.2 per cent) as well as difficulties in sourcing raw materials/parts and components (41.4 per cent, up 16.8 percentage points) were cited as major impacts.
More than 70 per cent of Hong Kong exporters said they expect 2022 sales will decrease (42.6 percent) or just be on par (29.1 per cent) with sales this year.

The conference highlighted the development directions of Shenzhen’s strategic emerging industries and those of the future as well as key industries and projects in each district while gathering global investors and quality resources to further develop Shenzhen as a premier choice for global investment.
The 2021 Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference was hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and was jointly organised by the Commerce Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Information Office of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, and Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.

Australian Red Cross And NAATI Collaborate

Sydney, Dec 17: The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) has partnered with Australian Red Cross to deliver a pilot program supporting people who have recently resettled in Australia from Afghanistan to gain a NAATI credential as an interpreter or community language aide.
This pilot has been launched in response to increased demand for interpreters and bilingual workers among newly arrived migrants to Australia. 
It is intended that this pilot will support new arrivals to connect with employment and training in the language services sector.
The pilot, delivered by AMES and Australian Red Cross, aims to work with recently arrived people from Afghanistan who are receiving support through the Humanitarian Settlement Program, which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs, to continue their careers as interpreters. 
Eligible applicants will be able to access interpreter training, and discounted or fully sponsored NAATI credentials, to become an interpreter or community language aide. 
Those supported under the program will also benefit from mentoring and connection with employers.

Kieren Perkins To Lead Australian Sport

Sydney, Dec 17: The Chair of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Josephine Sukkar AM welcomes the appointment of Kieren Perkins OAM as its new Chief Executive Officer. 
The role will see Perkins oversee high performance and participation sport as the nation embarks on the green and gold runway towards Brisbane 2032. 
Perkins is best known as one of Australia’s greatest ever swimmers and brings a wealth of corporate and sports administration experience to the role. 
Most recently, Perkins served as the President of Swimming Australia and has previously been a Commissioner of the Australian Sports Commission (2001-2007). 
“The ASC is delighted to welcome someone of the calibre of Kieren Perkins to this important role leading Australian sport,” said Sukkar.

AFC Launches New ‘Emotions in Football Project’

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 17: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has launched an ‘Emotions in Football Project’, a new initiative that focuses on managing the emotions of coaches and footballers with the aim of improving performances on the pitch and to safeguard their personal well-being.
The new project will focus on two aspects – Grassroots and Elite Football – and the concept was presented to the AFC Member Associations (MAs) in a special online session that was attended by 98 participants.
The AFC Emotions in Football Working Group, of which former Liverpool, Lyon and France coach Gérard Houllier was an original member before his passing last year, will contribute to the implementation of the AFC project with the help of MA Technical Directors and Coach Educators.
“Technical knowledge is important but in this modern era, coaches and footballers need to better understand their emotions and explore constructive ways to establish a more conducive and holistic environment as part of efforts to strengthen the larger football development structure,” AFC General Secretary Datuk Windsor John said.

Alibaba Announces Carbon Neutrality Goal 

China, Dec 17: Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA and HKEX: 9988, “Alibaba” or “Alibaba Group”) today announced a pledge to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2030 and introduced a Scope 3+ target, a pioneering initiative aiming to facilitate 1.5 gigatons of decarbonisation across its business ecosystem by 2035.
Details about its goals, including thinking and definition of the newly introduced concept of Scope 3+, are shared in the inaugural Alibaba Carbon Neutrality Action Report. Alibaba aims to provide updates annually with progress verified by accredited auditors.
“We aspire to be a force for positive, innovative change in society. Our ESG strategy is predicated on our mission to be a good company that will live for 102 years and it is the vital foundation for Alibaba’s future development,” Daniel Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group said.
“We will leverage our unique influence as a platform operator to mobilise actions and behavioural changes among consumers, merchants and partners in China and around the world with our newly proposed Scope 3+ target of reducing 1.5 gigatons of carbon emissions by 2035.”
Meanwhile, Alibaba aims to continue to improve information and data disclosure and reporting mechanisms, starting next, Alibaba will aim to release its ESG report annually, in which concrete and specific annual progress will be included.
