Kuala Lumpur, Dec 10: Watsons Malaysia is looking to expand the pharmacy and health sections in most of their stores, nationwide.
Caryn Loh Managing Director Watsons Malaysia said that as a result of the pandemic, more Malaysians were now placing emphasis on their health, indirectly resulting in more people frequenting pharmacies.
“We are looking at expansion opportunities for our pharmacies at most of our stores moving forward.
“However, we have yet to confirm the number of stores that will be added in 2022.
“We are seeing more possibilities to expand in a couple of years, hopefully, to double our growth,” she said after opening Watsons’ 600th store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, yesterday.
Its first store opened in Johor in 1994.
Watsons’ latest store is one of the largest in the city spanning 4,810 square feet and is equipped with in-store and online (O+O) shopping, Style Me feature counter with augmented reality (AR) technology to try on colour virtually, W Table highlighting exclusive K-Beauty products, Natural by Watsons’ refill station with sustainable choices brands, self-checkout, pharmaceutical services and more.
Loh said they have been strengthening their O+O (Offline plus Online) business model to provide additional choices for customers to browse and shop.

“In this new store, we have placed QR codes on top of each area from cosmetics, hair, skincare, health and more to provide offline and online integration experience for customers where customers can scan and land to Watsons’ website to browse more.
“Our business strategy is to integrate offline and online together for the convenience of the customers. At the moment we have seven platforms where customers can shop.
“We are available on Watsons’ website, app, Shopee, Lazada, Food Panda, Grab and Happy Fresh.
“But more importantly we are looking at sustainability, we want to have a better place to shop and a better place on earth.
“Moving forward, we are also looking to expand self-checkouts at most of our stores but space limitations pose a hindrance to us at times.
“Currently only the ones in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, One Utama and Sunway Pyramid have self-checkouts,” Loh added.
In the span of 27 years it has been in business, Watson has grown from strength to strength and is now serving more than six million people nationwide.
