By Mahathir Mohd Rais

The new leader of the opposition has been named and I am very proud and honored to announce that it will be under the wise observation of Dato’ Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
This is a well-thought-out decision made by the supreme council of Perikatan Nasional, which is led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the Chairman of Perikatan Nasional, deserves praise for making the correct decision during the power deliberation.
It should be noted that our leader is respected and trustworthy.
He weighed the pros and cons of selecting the opposition leader.
He made his decision after careful consideration and on the basis of credibility, and it is the correct one.
The members of Perikatan Nasional including myself have a whole bunch to learn from him.
He crafted us the pathway to help the people of this nation.
An honorable mention would also go to the vice president of Perikatan Nasional, Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang for his contribution towards making Perikatan Nasional as a respected opposition to the people of Malaysia.
Under the leadership of two amazing individuals, we are to witness the best opposition party to ever exist in this nation.
Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has always been a man who follows through on his promises.
A strong opposition will be able to address the issues raised by the people under his leadership.
Clearly, the current government has been focusing on and addressing issues that are unimportant in comparison to people’s livelihoods.
Though it can be argued that they are contributing to Malaysia’s new development, the people of our country continue to suffer.
As a result, a strong opposition leader is required to bring these issues before the parliament.
As evidenced by the recent election, the people have placed their trust and loyalty in Perikatan Nasional.
Those from underdeveloped areas want change, which is why they voted for Perikatan Nasional.
I am confident that now that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin is the leader of the opposition in parliament, the people’s trust and loyalty have grown significantly.
Our duty, which is to serve the people of our country, will shine brightly under a competent leadership.
Additionally, his ability to speak and convert the words of the people will play a major role in changing the lives of millions.
This is a new dawn for the opposition and for the people of Malaysia.
Serving the people will be our main priority.
Congratulations to Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
