I have been struggling to write this. But here goes nothing. About 10 years ago, I attended a media conference in Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur in which I met a man who had manufactured perfumes for a living. He was French and was there to source for new clients. He knew I was a reporter and took the liberty to speak to me right after the media conference. I remember him being very pleasant and he spoke to me in English with a thick French accent.
“Last year, I flew around the globe, more than any pilot,” I remember him saying to me distinctively when I spoke to him a decade ago.
I guess he told me that to indicate how good business was for him. His perfumes were all manufactured in France, a country which I was very familiar with then owing to my frequent travels to Paris for my Batik lingerie business.
But sadly we have since lost touch but the idea of me creating my own perfume line still remained till this very day. Fast forward to today, I have recently found a manufacturer in Sydney, Australia who can make perfumes for me but they have told me that I would need to give them the recipe. So, yesterday on March 19, I took the first step in realising that dream by learning how to make perfumes at a private college near my dwelling. The funny thing is that I almost didn’t get into the class but somehow managed to sign up for it at the 11th hour. The next intake is in May and I honestly didn’t want to wait any longer in case my circumstances changed by then.
The day-long course was rather interesting, to say the least, as it gave me a concrete idea of what my next moves should be.
One of the recipes I made in the class was something I’d like to work on more and create a line out of it. I just need to go all out to get the ingredients to make it happen.
So, why I am writing this today, I guess to tell everyone that it is never too late to start working on your idea.
As for my current line, the LazyBum Skincare and Blitz Hair Oil Spray, it is still a work in progress. I am still finding a suitable place to onboard it somewhere for sale purposes, one with a large number of followers that has thousands of visitors and most importantly a site that users trust enough and don’t have a hard time in sticking in their credit card details into.
I won’t announce the name of the site just yet until it is set in stone. So, hopefully, this announcement will come in soon.
Also, just a short announcement to tell you that tapiroo.com is undergoing a reconstruction whereby we are redesigning the website from scratch to make the UX more user friendly. We hope to finish this project soon and for the website to be up and running again. Till my next update.
