DailyStraits.com turns one on Sunday but because we no longer publish stories on the weekend, I am choosing to publish this piece today, instead. Exactly a year ago, I did the inevitable and bought a domain on Feb 8 and started this website on Feb 27. Daily Straits has been a name etched in my mind since 2014 and it was going to be the title for a short story I had about the innings of a newsroom in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during a creative writing course I signed up for at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Fast forward to this day, this happened instead, I used the same name as the title of my debut novel ‘Daily Straits’, the kindle version and paperback version of my maiden novel is available to be purchased here and instead of Malaysia, I’ve written the novel detailing my experiences in a Sydney newsroom, instead. After the novel was published, I reused the name for this website as well.

Thanks for all the support that you have given me and my team to date, please keep sending us pitches and well written columns for us to use from time to time.
We have our media kit and rate card available on our website should you require any other information when it comes to advertising with us. The rates will remain the same throughout the year.
I am also going to start a new section that focuses solely on all things beauty and fashion which would come under the Lifestyle banner. As such, I welcome any pitches sent to me in this genre.

As some of you may already know, Fazleena Aziz is no longer associated with this website as she has now taken a full-time role as a journalist with the Star in Malaysia. This website wishes her all the best in her future endeavours. For Malaysian publicists, you can stop sending her whatsapp messages and direct all your queries to our company site or better yet just send us an email with your queries. Thank you for all your all the support rendered to us thus far and keep sending us your wonderful pitches from time to time. Much love!

Editor’s Note: You can download our app on the Google Play Store or the Apple Store, or write your next best selling novel with our sister app Toolis, available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store and finally purchase something from us at www.tapiroo.com, yayaezzy.com or at lazybumskincare.com.au.
